Almost Finished Editing!

I was finally able to start editing our project! We finished filming the fifth scene on monday. I was relieved to have finally finished filming, especially having filming delayed so many times in the past month or so. So, having all the necessary components of our film, I was able to completely piece together our film. I used CuteCut to do this, which was probably the easiest part of the editing process. Once putting everything together, I made sure to cut the clips to the appropriate lengths. It did take a little bit of time, since some scenes needed more complex editing, like split screens and fading in and out effects. Once I put everything together, I realized we were well over two minutes. Especially since I had to leave a black screen at the end of the last scene of our film for the director title. So, I decided to make the decision to completely cut out the scenes we filmed of walking out our houses dressed to go to the funeral. It was also a scene that wasn't beneficial to the story, and took up a good three seconds. After that, I simply went back to scenes we already already had and cut them shorter little by little. After adjusting the length of some scenes, I was finally able to cut it down to two minutes. After that, I was able to start working on the titles. For this I used Video Star, because it gave me a better range of effects to use, and was just a lot better when it came to inserting the titles into the scenes. I was able to finish it all in one day, and I was happy with the result. After that, I needed to mess with the audio effects for both of Lauren's 'news reporter' scenes. For the first one, towards the end of it, the title of the movie fades into the video on a black screen. While this happens, the audio of the news report continues to play on, but gradually begins to echo and become distorted, adding the unsettling feeling the sequence is meant to relay. For the last one, scene seven and eight, I was able to cut it about halfway, with the first half showing the actual news report. The second half of the report, I edited the audio so that it sounded like it was playing on a tv in the background. This was played during the eight scene, so that it seemed like the 'killer' whose hand you see cross out something on the list is listening to news broadcast. Now, with all that done, all that's left is to finish with adding the music into the sequence. I'm really happy with how it's coming along and I can't wait to see the finished product!
