More Into Filming

Image
To add onto what I said in my previous blog, we had to make some changes to the scene once we started filming it. While we were filming, we made a few changes from what we had on the script. It was simply change in dialog, as we felt what we originally had just didn't feel right and didn't look the way we wanted it to. It's also what took away most of our time, after taking so long on the makeup like I said before. The scene was originally supposed to have some more dialog, and once we tried filming it a couple of times, it just wasn't feeling right. It was getting a bit frustrating, especially since we barely had any time left before I had to leave. We finally took a second to stop filming and watch over the scene. We starting thinking of what else we could say in the scene that would make it better. After a little while, I suggested that we just say nothing at all. It would make the scene more impactful if we stayed silent, as we were meant to be upset and distra

We're Getting Somewhere

Image
We were finally able to film! That thursday, I went to school and took the test I needed to take then I got on the bus. As soon as the bell rang, Kaitlyn texted me to remind me to rehearse and go over my lines, which I did. Then, after that I got off at my bus stop. My mom picked me up from there and took me home. When I got home, I quickly got changed and went to get something to eat before I left for Lauren's house. After I finished, I went back to making sure I had all my stuff together. I realized I also had to get all my stuff together for my water polo game. So since I was going to go there straight after my mom picked me up from Lauren's house, I made sure to get that stuff ready too. Once I was finished, I told my mom I was ready and she took me to Lauren's. When I got there, Kaitlyn and Lauren were both outside the house. They were finishing up filming the last parts of Lauren's scenes. While they did that, I went inside the house and put my stuff down. I

Finally Planning to Film

Image
We finally set a day to film! This thursday, which is an early release day, Kaitlyn, lauren, and I are going to start filming for the second scene. Both Kaitlyn and Lauren aren't going to school that day. They asked me to not go to school either, so that way we could start filming earlier, but I have to go to school anyway. I have a mandatory test to take in one of my classes, so I can't skip school that day. So, we planned to have them film Lauren's news reporter scenes before I got there. Then, after taking the bus home, I could go to Lauren's house and we could film the second scene. Kaitlyn made sure to tell me to study my lines on the way home on the bus, and I agreed. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to stay long, because I have a water polo game after school and have to be there by 4:30 PM. I originally planned to pack the stuff I needed to bring in a bag and bring it with me to school. But, I found out that fortunately, my mom was going to be home, I c

Change of Plans

Image
After our roles had been switched (which I forgot to clarify in my last blog), plans to film had been set in stone for today. Unfortunately, that did not end up happening. This past weekend's weather has been horrendous. It hasn't been this bad in a long time. So today's weather just wasn't ideal for filming. To go over the switching of roles situation, I was originally supposed to play the "dead girl", while Camille was supposed to play the other main best friend along with Kaitlyn. We eventually decided to change the roles, mainly because it would be more convenient. Like I said in the last blog, Camille lives pretty far from Kaitlyn and I. So, It would be really difficult to find ideal times to film, especially since we all usually have activities after school. I wasn't really fond with the idea of having to switch roles, but agreed seeing as to how it was the best option. I still kept the same name though, so we had to make some adjustments to the s

Preparing to Film

Image
It's finally time to start filming for our project! Although we can't film yet, it's time to start prepping the necessary props and materials we need for the actual filming process. Kaitlyn was the main one working out what we were going to be doing with makeup and such things. She's the best one for that out of the four of us. Speaking of, we are also going to be working with one of our friends Lauren. She is going to be playing the news reporter in our film. I'm glad she agreed to work with us. She's being very helpful with all this, even letting us film at her house. Anyway, Kaitlyn agreed to work with some of the props we need for our last scene, which requires the most thought in props. She made a "bloodied' to do list, and printed pictures of us that made it look like they were taken by a stalker. She is also going to be working on a worn and tattered shirt for camille's "dead girl" scene. I'm very grateful for Kaitlyn's

Music Production Blog

Image
Today, my group and I talked talked about music that was best for our film. We considered asking permission to use a song, but figured that'd be too complicated. It is much easier and simpler to use basic royalty free music online. I was looking for places to find music that would be royalty free, and ultimately opted to looking a site called FreePD.com. Searching with my partners, we were able to find some music that we felt would go with the mood of the movie. Choosing a couple of the songs was definitely a longer process, mainly due to having to go through so many available choices, but fortunately, we were able to narrow down our favorites. “Big Eyes” by Rafael Krux will be playing towards the end of scene 2, all of scene three, and a little bit of scene four. Then “Lonely Mountain” as by Rafael Krux will enter in scene five. But towards the middle “Big Eyes” would come back and start playing again subtly in the background. The last scene, scene 8, “Creepy Hallow” by Alex
