- Common types of costumes are dark clothing, specifically black, masks or any type of face coverings.
- Common settings are either big cities, including the suburbs, or a small country town. Dark lighting is the most common form of lighting in thrillers. It might be sunny in very few scenes, but most of the scenes are filmed in low, yellow or black lighting.
- Common acting consists of screaming, running, quiet or loud scenes. The actors will be hiding, crying, whispering, stalking, and/or plotting most of the time.
- Common types of editing are jump cuts, shot reverse shot, and/or action match. It is either fast paced or slow paced. They help build suspension and reveal weaknesses.

- Some popular thrillers found on Netflix are “Bird Box”, “The Call”, and “Clinical”.
- Some elements of Thrillers that we like are cliffhangers, protagonists vs. antagonists, action-packed opening, and a ticking clock. We will definitely use cliffhangers and action-packed opening.
- Some elements we don’t like are a famous villain because we think it is better to create the element of surprise by developing a new villain.
